Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris born October 20 1964) is an American politician and attorney who is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is the first woman elected vice president, and is also the most powerful female officer in the history of America. As a member of the Democratic Party, she has been the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017, and also as a United States senator representing California from 2011 to 2021. Harris was born and was raised in Oakland, California. Her career began in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected as the district attorney of San Francisco. She was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and was elected again in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California from 2017-2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. As senator, she fought for healthcare reform, federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, the DREAM Act, a ban of assault weapons and progressive tax reform. Her pointed questioning of Trump officials during Senate hearings has garnered the attention of the nation, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
